64th National Pharmacy Week at Srinath College, focus on vaccination awareness

Jamshedpur, Nov 22: Srinath College of Pharmacy celebrated the 64th National Pharmacy Week on November 21 and 22, 2025 emphasizing this year’s theme “Pharmacists as Advocates of Vaccination.” The two-day celebration highlighted the vital contribution of pharmacists in promoting vaccination awareness, immunization advocacy and public health.

Srinath University Chancellor Sukhdev Mahato, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.N. Singh, Registrar In-charge Dr. Mousumi Mahato, Principal of Srinath College of Pharmacy Dr. Prashanta Kumar Mahapatra, along with other faculty members were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Day one began with a Reel Making Competition, where students showcased creative reels on topics including vaccine awareness, pharmacists’ role in immunization, debunking vaccine-related myths and the impact of vaccination on public health. This was followed by a Poster Making Competition centered on vaccination guidelines, review-based research themes and innovative approaches to enhance vaccination coverage.

A Herbal Tree Plantation Programme was also organized spreading the message of environmental health and sustainable wellness. Students currently undergoing hospital internships benefited from a special interactive session conducted by Branjo Tudu, Senior Pharmacist at MGM Hospital, Jamshedpur, who shared real-life vaccination experiences and professional insights.

Day two featured an engaging Model Drama Competition, during which students theatrically presented themes such as the importance of vaccination, effective pharmacist–patient communication and community-level immunization awareness. The event also included a Model Presentation Competition, highlighting innovative student presentations on vaccine mechanisms, immunization schedules, cold chain management, pharmacovigilance in vaccines and other public health concepts related to vaccination.

All events over the two days were evaluated by dignitaries Amod Kumar, Store In-charge at Sadar Hospital, Jamshedpur, and O.P. Thakur, Pharmacist at Sadar Hospital.

The celebration concluded with appreciation extended to the students for their creativity, dedication and commitment to advancing vaccination awareness and contributing to public health promotion.
