60-year-old man killed in road mishap in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 27: In a road mishap,  a 60-year-old man was killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding bike at Jawaharnagar on Old Purulia Road under Azadnagar police station area in Mango this morning.

The victim was identified as Syed Mumtaz Alam, a resident of Moti Mahal on Road No 13 in Jawaharnagar in Mango.

The mishap took place at the crossing Road No 12 in Jawaharnagar, as he was returning home on foot having bought bread.

According to local residents, as Alam was crossing the road on foot, a speeding bike was coming from the Pardih end of the road.

” As we saw a speeding bike coming from the Pardih end, the victim tried to cross the road by walking faster.  But unfortunately, the bike-rider who had a pillion rider, also took speed, considering to cross the pedestrian by riding faster.  As a result of which the pedestrian was hit by the speeding bike,” said a local resident.

As Alam sustained grievous head injuries, he was rushed to Tata Main Hospital in a car.  The doctors on the emergency duty declared him as brought dead.
