Jamshedpur ;A 52-year-old man was stabbed to death near Sitaramdera bus terminus under Sitaramdera police station area on Tuesday morning.
Sudama Singh a resident of Madanpur police station area of Aurangabad district in Bihar was attacked by the criminals. He along with his nephew Mritunjay Singh had come to the city.
According to sources, while Sudama Singh and his nephew Mritunjay were returning a gang of three criminals intercepted them and tried to loot the luggage and cash.
When resisted, one of the criminals took out a knife and struck at Mritunjay, but the latter managed to escape without any injuries. The criminals then attacked Sudama and started snatching his luggage and cash. The criminals also took away the wallet containing Rs 4,000. According to the eyewitness, the victim’s nephew ran away out of fear.
As the police team reached the spot the body was sent to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. The victim had sustained six stab injuries and the injuries were in the chest, lower abdomen, shoulder and hands.
Officer-in-charge, Sitaramdera police station, SD Singh confirmed it to be a case of loot and murder.
“A gang of three criminals murdered a bus passenger while committing loot. The victim’s nephew was also along with him, but he somehow managed to save himself by running away from the spot,” said the officer-in-charge. Singh said they were trying to detect the criminals who were responsible for the murder.
