The Jharkhand Government and the Department of Women and Child Development showing sensitive stance on human trafficking took prompt action on such incidents .
Recently, on February 9, through a secret information on the toll free number 10582 operated by IRRC, it was learned that the girls of Jharkhand are being human trafficked and put to work in Delhi. As soon as the information was received, the team of Integrated Rehabilitation Resource Center (IRRC) operated by the Department of Women and Child Development immediately established contact with Uttam Nagar Police Station, Delhi, traced the location of the children and raided and after a struggle of about three hours those girls were found along with a human trafficker and were released from rented house. Then after getting medical done, they were presented before the CWC. Further action is being taken against human traffickers. The team was led by Nodal Officer Nachiketa.
A Dode, Director of Women and Child Development Department, has given strict instructions to all the districts that in whichever district the children will be rescued in Delhi, the District Social Welfare Officer and Child Protection Officer of that district will take the children to their native district for rehabilitation.
In this sequence, taking initiative by District Social Welfare Officer Sita Pushpa and District Child Protection Officer Ved Prakash Tiwari, all the five rescued girls are being brought back from Delhi to Ranchi by Garib Rath. These girls will be linked to various schemes run by the Social Welfare Department, so that these girls do not become victims of human trafficking again.
It is worth mentioning that as per the instructions of the local commissioner in Delhi Mastram Meena, the children who have been victims of human trafficking, misplaced or trapped by someone’s misguided and unprotected by constantly visiting various children’s homes of Delhi by Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre, New Delhi, Action is being taken to send the girls back. In this regard, after establishing constant coordination with Delhi Police, Child Welfare Committee, New Delhi and Child Welfare Committee of border states, victims of human trafficking are being identified and freed. After that work is being done to send the liberated people safely to their home district, where they are being rehabilitated.
The rescued girls in Delhi were brought through brokers. Such brokers are very active in Jharkhand, who lure young girls to Delhi by luring them to live a good life in Delhi and sell them on the pretext of employing them in different houses, from which they get a hefty amount.
Their parents also play an important role in sending the girls in the clutches of touts. It has been seen many times that girls go into the clutches of touts only with the consent of their parents, their relatives.
According to the instructions of the Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, the children being brought to Jharkhand will be continuously monitored through the Village Child Protection Committee (VLCPC) connecting them with the welfare schemes, sponsorship, foster care, Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School, operated in the district, To save the girl child from being the victim of human trafficking again.
