40-year-old man kills sister-in-law, nephew in Ghatshila

Jamshedpur, August 2 : In a shocking incident a 40-year-old man killed his sister-in-law and nephew at Chingra village under Dumaria police station  area in Ghatshila sub-division at the wee hours on Friday.The victims were identified as Kapra Tuddu (45) and her son, Hemo Tuddu (20).

After murdering the mother and son, the accused Ratan Tuddu surrendered before the police at Dumaria police station.

Superintendent of police (Rural) Piyush Pandey along with other police officers visited the spot and started the probe at Chingra village.

According to sources, the double murder took place due to property dispute between KapraTuddu and her brother-in-law Ratan Tuddu.

Kapra was the widow of Kade Tuddu, a police constable who was killed during his duty at Deoghar in 2000.  Ever since his murder, Kapra used to get pension.

OC, Dumaria police station ,Jogendra Paswan said as Kade was killed during duty hours, his son was entitled to get a government job on compensatory ground and Kapra was getting the pension amount regularly.

” As per our initial probe the assailant wanted Kapra to give Ratan a portion of the pension amount but instead Kapra and her son wanted Ratan to give them a portion of agricultural produce from their land.  Ratan was not interested to share the agricultaral produce with the victims,” said Paswan.

According to Paswan, Hemo Tuddu was married three months ago and today was his reception at Chingra village.

“In view of reception there was tent and other arrangements at the house, Kapra Tuddu was asleep outside the house under a tent where as Hemo and his wife had slept inside.  Ratan slit the throat of Kapra first.  As there was noise, Hemo came out and saw his uncle while killing his mother. As he tried to counter attack, Ratan slit his throat also and asked Hemo’s wife to flee otherwise she would also be killed.  After the gruesome act Ratan went to the Dumaria police station  and surrendered with the knife he had used in committing the two murders,” said OC, Dumaria police station .
