Jamshedpur, July 18: In a major road mishap, four policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector were injured, one of them seriously when police van they were patrolling was hit by a dumper near Narshing Ispat Ltd on Kandra-Chowka Road Chowka police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Tuesday morning.
As mishap took place, the injured were rushed to a referral hospital in Chandil and subsequent rushed to Tata Main Hospital, where they all have been admitted.
The condition of Nripen Mahto, driver of the police vehicle is serious, whereas the condition of other three injured is said to be out of danger.
Those injured have been identified as ASI, Lalbabu Ram (45), constables Indradev Thakur (34) and Nandlal Tiu (36) and driver Nripen Mahto (36).
The mishap took place along the Narshing Ispat Ltd about three kms away from the Chowka police station on the Kandra-Chowka Road connecting the NH-33.
OC, Chowka police station, Anjani Kumar Singh said the mishap took place when the police men were involved in patrolling duty. As the police vehicle was moving towards Kandra, the dumper coming from the opposite direction hit the police vehicle.
” We are investigating the accident. In the mishap four police men, including an ASI were injured. All the four have sustained head injuries. Except the police driver, Nipen Mahto, condition of rest of them is out of danger,” said Singh.
