Jamshedpur, April 3: Like every year, Bhartiya Yugvasisth Brahmanand Sangh is celebrating Basanti Durga Puja.
Sangh is observing the festival with fervour at Jamshedpur Kalibari Ashram (Beldih). Beldih Kalibari is organising its 35th Basanti Durga Puja. As Basanti Durga Puja began from Mahashasthi on April 2, the puja started on Monday, April 3 and will continue till April 6 before the immersion of the idol.
Durgotsav is celebrated twice every year in the months of Ashwin and Chaitra. The current one is the Chaitra Durga Puja.
On April 3, the occasion of Saptami saw Vihip Puja Prasasta while the day started with navpatrika entrance of basanti durgadevi. The rituals are being performed by Monu Bhattacharya, head of the Brahmanand Sangh.
The evenings will see several cultural events held every day at 7.30 pm through the festival by students of Shikshayatan, the art school managed by the Brahmananda sangha.
Bhog will be distributed everyday between 1 to 2 pm.
Ashtami (April 4) will witness Mahaashtami vihip Puja of Basanti durga devi at 8.40 am, the same day will see Annapurna and Ashoka Astami puja also followed by colourful cultural program in the evening and a maha bhog in the afternoon.
On Navami (April 5), there will be a havan, Navami vihip puja at 8.38 am followed by cultural program again. The day of Ramnavami.
On Thursday, Chaitra Shukla Dasmi puja will start at 6.10 am and the programme will culminate on April 6, followed by immersion of the idol of Goddess Durga.
“The samiti would like to invite all Jamshedpurians to be a part of the celebrations on this auspicious occasion,” a sangh member said.
