Jamshedpur, May 20: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Tata Steel UISL have jointly established a total of 30 RRR (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) centers as part of the “Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shahar” campaign. These centers will provide a platform for the citizens of Jamshedpur to deposit their excess items such as clothes, electronic items, shoes, plastic materials and books. The RRR Center in the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee was inaugurated by Santoshini Murmu and Chandradeep Kumar, the Executive Officer of JNAC.
The RRR centers have taken into consideration the suggestions of the Library Development Committee of the Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha. As a result, a book bank has been established at the RRR center, which currently holds around 600 books donated by the public. Additionally, a utensil bank has been set up, providing plates and glasses for 50 people. Interested individuals can avail themselves of these utensils by depositing a nominal amount of 500 rupees. The centers also accept electronic waste and usable clothes and shoes.
The inaugural event witnessed the presence of officers and personnel from Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee and Tata Steel UISL. Rotary Club Jamshedpur has taken the responsibility of collecting e-waste at the RRR Center. The center also showcased various creative items, such as bags made from old clothes, bangles made from recycled bangles, plates made from old paper, and composting equipment, which garnered significant interest and purchases from visitors.
Sanjay Kumar, Special Officer at JNAC expressed his appreciation for the initiative, highlighting that active participation from all residents of the city would bring about positive change. He urged citizens to visit their nearest RRR center and deposit any excess or donated goods. The RRR Centers can also be easily located using Google Maps.
During the event, Maundrita Chatterjee and Pappu Sardar, cleanliness brand ambassadors, conveyed messages on cleanliness and environmental conservation through dance videos. They emphasized the importance of making small improvements in our lifestyles to save the environment. Pappu Sardar urged citizens to prioritize cleanliness and make compost from biodegradable waste at home, thereby becoming responsible citizens.
The successful implementation of the campaign was made possible by the efforts of officers and personnel from JNAC, Tata Steel UISL Public Health Services, members of Rotary Club Jamshedpur, as well as supervisors and members of self-help groups. Under this campaign, the RRR centers are open daily from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, except for the RRR center located at JNAC, which operates from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Dedicated teams at the existing TISO centers are available to assist citizens in depositing their belongings and providing necessary guidance. The campaign’s objective is to foster environmental sensitivity and responsibility among citizens in their daily lives.
