Target set for December completion, daily monitoring underway

Jamshedpur, May 30: The construction of Jamshedpur’s most anticipated Mango–Sakchi flyover has reached 30% completion, with 29 of the total 57 pillars already cast. The 2.8-kilometer-long four-lane flyover is aimed at significantly easing traffic congestion between Mango and Sakchi.
The project, monitored daily by the Road Construction Department, is progressing steadily. Except for six pillars, work on the remaining 28 is moving at a rapid pace. A key milestone has been achieved with the successful placement of a 40-meter-long, 16.68-meter-wide segmental slab between two spans using a large crane.
While the state’s Road Construction Department has targeted August 2026 for the completion of the project, the Jamshedpur Division has set an ambitious goal to finish the flyover by December 2025. Executive Engineer Deepak Sahay confirmed this revised target, stating that the division is committed to accelerating progress while maintaining construction quality.
The main structure will span from Mango Dimna Road to Sakchi Gandhi Ghat, accommodating four lanes of traffic. Additionally, a two-lane flyover is planned from Mango Chowk towards Azad Basti to further ease vehicular movement.
With a population of nearly 2.5 lakh in Mango alone, along with the larger urban sprawl of Jamshedpur, residents are eagerly awaiting relief from the chronic traffic congestion in the area. Although the long-promised flyover remains incomplete for now, daily supervision and intensified construction efforts bring renewed hope.
The Road Construction Department’s daily inspections are ensuring both speed and quality, reinforcing the administration’s intent to meet the advanced deadline and fulfil the city’s long-pending demand.
