Jamshedpur, Dec 29: Three youths from Jamshedpur lost their lives and two others sustained critical injuries in a road accident that occurred on Sunday in the Tamar police station area of Ranchi district. The incident occurred near the Kanchi River on the Ranchi-Tata highway, when a truck collided with two motorcycles. The injured were immediately rushed to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for further treatment, with one reported in critical condition.

The five friends had set out from Jamshedpur to visit Jonha Falls in Ranchi. “They were all excited about the picnic, but tragedy struck when the truck hit them from behind,” said police officer Roshan Kumar Jha. The sudden impact caused the immediate death of three youths riding one of the bikes, while the other two youths riding the second motorcycle were severely injured. “One of the injured is in a critical condition, and we are doing everything to ensure they receive the best treatment,” Jha added.

The victims have been identified as Sumit Mishra (20), Pulkit Singh (18), and Nikhil Kumar (18), all residents of Bhuinyadih, Jamshedpur. The two injured, Prince Kumar and Shubham Kumar, were initially treated at the Tamar Community Health Center (CHC) before being transferred to RIMS for advanced care. “The families have been informed, and we are supporting them through this difficult time,” said Jha.

The accident led to a temporary traffic disruption on the Ranchi-Tata highway, but local authorities acted swiftly to restore normalcy within an hour. “We coordinated with the administration to clear the area and prevent further delays,” added Jha.

This accident has left the families of the victims devastated. “They were just young boys looking forward to a fun day, but this senseless loss has shattered their families,” said a relative of one of the victims. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident, including whether the truck driver was at fault.
