Jamshedpur : A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling at G P Slope Road under Kadma police station area late last night. The deceased was identified as Punam Devi.
The deceased’s father Ashok Kumar Dubey, claimed that his daughter was depressed over her failed marriage life and was undergoing treatment.
According to relatives, Punam used to stay at her parent’s place after she was left by her husband in Chhatisgarh in 2008.
According to Dubey, his daughter used her `dupatta’ for hanging herself and she was already dead by the time he had returned home.
Officer-in-charge, Kadma police station, Jayprakash Rana said this to be a case of suicide and stated that they have sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem.
According to a relative, the deceased Punam was married to SK Tiwary in Chhatisgarh in the year 2007, and the next year, she was ousted from her in-laws’ house. Punam’s husband had also filed a case of divorce in a court in Chhatisgarh, leading the family of Dubey to get extremely disturbed.
Dubey, who is a former employee of Tata Steel, when asked, said that his daughter had also filed a complaint case with a court in Chhatisgarh against her husband and the case was still pending.
