Jamshedpur, Sept. 3 : A 25-year-old man was found in fatally injured at Idgah Maidan in Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area in the wee hours of Monday.The victim was rushed by a patrolling party to Tata Main Hospital’s emergency wing where he was declared as brought dead. The deceased was later identified as Shiva Mukhi, a resident of Medical Bustee in Dhatkidih.
The police said this to be a case of lynching by unidentified persons. Shiva used to work at an industrial unit at Adityapur in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district and was married. He is survived by his wife and two children.
In this connection, the police have registered a case of murder on the basis of a statement given by victim’s widow, Baby Mukhi. According to the statement made by Devi, Shiva had come out of his residence at about 6 pm yesterday and did not return home. She told the police that her husband was an alcoholic and used to consume liquor on a regular basis.
Sub-inspector Makbul Khan of Bistupur police station who is looking into the case said that Shiva Mukhiwas beaten-to death by about 10 persons.
The sub-inspector said they are trying to detect the assailants by taking footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the locality, which is dominated by minority community.
