Jamshedpur: The 21st football tournament kicked off at Tilka Stadium in Hadtopa, Jadugora on Saturday. The football tournament is held every year in memory of former player Poras Chandra Murmu by Baba Tilka memorial Society.
The event started with paying floral tributes to the portrait of Poras Chandra Murmu. Chief Guest for the occasion Mukhiya Malti 21st football tournament kicks off at Tilka Stadium Hansda met the players and appealed to play with sporting spirit.
She further said that these types of sporting events help develop goodwill and brotherhood among the players.
The state government should take initiative and make arrangements for football training in block level so that Jharkhand can make a mark in the football stage of the world, added Malti Hansda.
Later, a two-minute silence was observed in memory of Poras Chandra Murmu. Total of 36 teams are vying for the winner’s trophy. The first match was
played between Baghmara and Hadtopa.
The final match will be played on Sunday. Present on the occasion were Malti Hansda, Gajiya Hansda, SN Tudu, Salkhan Murmu, Lakhan Hembrom, Durga
Mardi, Bablu Hansda, Bholanath.
