200 tribal girls fun filled education exposure visit to Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb. 17: The 2-day educational exposure visit of 200 tribal girls on 16-17 Feb to Jamshedpur was filled with education, fun and excitement.

It was a joint venture of Tata Steel CSR and Jusco School South Park. These girls in the age group 9-14 years are from 60 villages of Noamundi, Jamshedpur and Ghatsila blocks.

And they are studying Pipla Camp School and Noamundi Camp School (bridging program to mainstream school drop outs) ten teachers also accompanied the students.

This was the first time for the girls from remote villages to visit the city of Jamshedpur. On day-1 the students had an Art Camp conducted by Navya, followed by a visit to the zoo and the laser show, and viewing of a film �Taare Zameen Par�. On day -2 they visited Jusco School South Park.

The school arranged for five workshops for the girls � Science Appreciation, Music & Dance, Theatre (English & Hindi), Sports (Table Tennis, Kho-Kho & Kabaddi), Art & Craft, Mehendi & Tatto making.

The exposure was one of its kind. The girls gained many new experiences, and got exposed to a wide array of activities conducted in high quality urban schools.

They thoroughly enjoyed learning many new skills. They learnt scientific concepts through simple toy making, Mehendi art, Glass painting, Paper flower making.

They prepared a Hindi skit titled – Sabse Meethi Sabse Kadvi� in & an English skit titled – �Hijack� that exposed them to the theatre skills. The dance teacher did a beautiful choreography with the girls.

Girls played table tennis for the first time! In the end all the activities were showcased in a half an hour program in the school hall. The event was an overwhelming success which was easily visible from the beaming faces of the tribal friends.

This unique initiative was carried out under the guidance of Biren Ramesh Bhuta, Chief, CSR Tata Steel, Smita Agarwal , Head, Education, Tata Steel and Adarsh Kumar Gupta, Manager, CSR, Tata Steel. Shovna De, Principal, Jusco School South Park, Mili Sinha, Vice Principal, Jusco School South Park made the event successful with their expertise in organising workshop.
