Jamshedpur : A 20-year-old youth attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills and was rushed to the MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency.
The youth, Rakesh Pandit, consumed as many as two dozen sleeping pills to end his life in the night, and as his condition deteriorated his family members rushed him to the medical college and hospital in a serious condition.
A resident of Bistupur, Rakesh used to work in a local liquor bar, but he was not happy with his life, he had tried his luck by opening up a snack corner at Ganesh Puja fair last month. He incurred a heavy loss in his business.
According to relatives, dejected youth was already in debt before opening up the snack corner and on top of it he suffered a huge loss, he prompted to end his life by consuming sleeping pills.
The doctor who attended him said that though the danger condition of the ailing patient seems to be over, he was still serious.
Assistant sub-inspector of police, Suresh Prasad of Sakchi police station confirmed this to be a case of attempted suicide.
According to relatives, Rakesh is the only earning person in the family, which was comprised of his mother, a younger brother and a younger sister
