City reports 751 fresh cases, 2 deaths
Jamshedpur, Jan 15: After seeing a decline in Covid cases in the last two days, fresh infections took an upward trend on Saturday, January 15 as 751 new cases were reported. New cases pushed the total tally to 62297, while the death toll reached 1087 following 2 fresh fatalities, according to East Singhbhum health bulletin.
2-year-old Mango Jawahar Nagar boy admitted to Tata Main Hospital on January 13 with fever succumbed to the virus on Saturday.
80-year-old Sitaramdera Agrico elderly was admitted to Mercy Hospital a few days back succumbed to the viruson Saturday. Earlier on January 11, a 10-year-old Jugsalai boy died of the virus at TMH.
Jamshedpur’s positivity rate – the number of people testing positive for every 100 tests – was 9.53 percent with the latest addition in cases. 7878 samples were tested on Saturday.
The city has been producing a tidal wave of cases over the past days and the surge is believed to be driven by the Omicron variant. The variant is highly transmissible, according to experts.
Fresh infections on Friday total active cases in the city to 7752.
133 cases have been reported from Mango, 61 from Kadma, 37 from Sonari, 96 from Telco, 42 from Sakchi and 58 from Parsudih and 50 from Bistupur.
The positivity rate rose to 2.93 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 62297 and the death count is now 1087, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 7878 tests conducted on Saturday. There are 7752 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur.
As many 53458 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 344 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. 7878 COVID-19 tests, including 2432 RT-PCR, 5149 RAT and 297 TrueNat were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 798858 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 86.47% while the mortality rate is 1.74%.
So far in Jamshedpur 2128542 samples have been collected out of which 2126560 have been tested and 2064263 have turned out to be negative.
