2 minors returning from Jagannath Mela raped in Seraikela

Seraikela, July 18: In a horrific incident two minor girls were gang-raped by at least three youths at Jojo village in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on late Wednesday.
Police said, one of the accused was nabbed by villagers after the two girls cried for help.
According to a senior police official posted at Seraikela-Kharsawan headquarters, the duo victims were returning to their houses in Jojo village under Sini outpost jurisdiction after attending a local Jagannath Mela.
The officer further added that the youths finding the two minors walking alone kidnapped them and took them to a secluded area and gangraped them.
Local villagers on hearing the girls cry for help, rushed to the incident site. They managed to nab one of the accused.
Police further added that the locals brutally thrashed the nabbed accused prior handing him over to police, while the rest two managed to escape.
SDPO Santosh Kumar of Seraikela stated, “Raids are being conducted to arrest the absconding two.”
The arrested has been identified as Jiten Kurli. The two absconding have been identified as Ganey Roy and Vikas Hembram.
