195 students awarded gold medals at Kolhan University’s sixth convocation

Be job creators, not job seekers, Jharkhand Governor tells students


Jamshedpur: Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, addressing the sixth convocation ceremony of Kolhan University on Wednesday, called upon students to embrace hard work, discipline, and self-reliance as the foundations for success. Speaking to a packed gathering of graduates, faculty members, dignitaries, and parents, he stressed that there are no shortcuts in life and that consistent effort and strong character are essential in achieving one’s goals.

The Governor noted that today’s era is highly competitive and urged young people to prepare themselves to meet challenges with determination and confidence. He said that persistent hard work, positive thinking, and moral values are the true strengths that lead individuals toward excellence and opportunity.

He encouraged young graduates to become job creators rather than job seekers. He highlighted India’s growing landscape in startups, innovation, and technology, calling on students to actively participate in the country’s transformation.

Addressing the Kolhan University ceremony, he reiterated that self-reliance is the need of the hour. He emphasized the importance of skill development, continuous learning, and innovative thinking. He stated that character is the greatest capital of a person and urged students to uphold honesty, discipline, and strong values throughout their careers.

A total of 195 students from various faculties were awarded gold medals and degrees, drawing applause and celebration across the campus. Many students expressed pride in receiving recognition in the presence of the Governor and other dignitaries. Proud parents, professors, and peers filled the venue, turning the event into a vibrant moment of achievement.

According to university officials, gold medals were awarded to 33 students from the 2021 session, 32 from 2022, 37 from 2023, and 44 from 2024. Four students received the Best Graduate Medal for their exceptional all-round performance. Additionally, 79 PhD scholars received their doctoral degrees, marking a significant accomplishment in advanced research.

Gangwar congratulated all medalists and degree holders, wishing them success and a bright future. He said the youth are the backbone of national progress and that their aspirations and achievements will shape the nation’s growth. He encouraged students to set clear goals, work with dedication, maintain self-confidence, and contribute meaningfully to society and the development of Jharkhand.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Anjila Gupta and Registrar Dr. Parshuram Siyal extended a warm welcome to the Governor. University leadership highlighted their ongoing efforts to strengthen academic standards, streamline policies, and enhance the overall educational environment.
