Jamshedpur: A major security operation involving Jharkhand Police, CRPF, and Jharkhand Jaguar forces is underway to thwart the violent plans of the CPI (Maoists) cadres in the dense forest region of West Singhbhum district. Acting on credible intelligence inputs, security personnel launched a search operation on July 1, 2025, in and around the Husipi village under Tonto police station limits, leading to the recovery of a huge cache of explosive materials.
The district police had received specific information that members of the CPI (Maoist) outfit, including prominent leaders Milsi Solka, Vunel, Monu, Unai, Lalit Munda, Vijai Eghars, Laxman Vashpika, Vishnu, Fetu Yogarka, Panu Yogarka, and Vimal Kalna, along with other armed cadres, were camping in the forest area. The group was allegedly preparing to carry out acts of violence and sabotage targeting security forces deployed in the region.
In response to the alert, the West Singhbhum Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 60 Battalion, and Jharkhand Jaguar formed a combined operational team. The forces immediately commenced a massive cordon and search operation around the suspected hideouts in Ghafli and surrounding villages.
During the search on July 1, the joint team discovered approximately 18,000 detonators buried underground near Ghafli village. The explosives, reportedly concealed with the help of local supporters, were seized in an effort to disrupt the supply chain of the Naxal group and prevent the planned attacks.
Security officials stated that further investigation is underway to trace the origin and intended use of such a large quantity of explosives. Senior officers indicated that the recovery of the detonators was a significant success in the ongoing anti-Naxal campaign in the Kolhan region, which remains one of the most sensitive areas affected by left-wing extremism in Jharkhand.
Local sources revealed that the continuous movement of armed Naxal squads in remote areas has led to heightened security concerns in recent weeks. In view of the threat, police and paramilitary forces have intensified patrolling and surveillance operations to secure the area and reassure the local population.
The district administration has urged citizens to remain vigilant and to inform authorities about any suspicious activities in their villages. Meanwhile, additional reinforcements are being deployed to sustain pressure on extremist groups and to dismantle their logistic and operational networks.
