17,000 Covishield doses reach Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 11: With the arrival of 17,000 Covishield shots, Covid-19 vaccination in various urban and rural centres of East Singhbhum district resumed on Wednesday.

As the stock had exhausted, not a single centre – both in urban and rural areas – administered Covid vaccination on Tuesday. People, especially those in the age group of 18 to 44 years were seen waiting at various jab centres on Wednesday.

Health department officials said vaccination would be given in around 60 centres across the district for the age group of 18 to 44 years and above.

Several centres provided vaccine doses through online slot booking while others provided Covid jabs through the walk-in mode.

As many as 17 centres in urban areas of East Singhbhum provided the vaccine doses for 18 plus  while two centres were earmarked for vaccination to those 45 years and above.

Sources in the health department said that several centres in both urban and rural areas which  had to be  closed down due to short supply of vaccine doses, re-opened today.

Health department officials said that vaccination at Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal would also begin in a day or two through online slot booking.

The District Administration has  appealed to all the residents of the district that those who have not taken the second dose of Covaxin, will ensure to take their second dose as soon as possible.

By continuously running awareness campaigns through various mediums (social, print and electronic media) by the district administration, people are being made aware about vaccination as well as session sites are being organized for 18+ and 45+ age groups in regular urban areas .
