170 participate in Painting Competition for World Water Day

Jamshedpur, March 19: Tata Steel organized a painting competition as a part of the week long campaign for World Water Day for the school children at Centre for Excellence on Thursday.

More than 170 children participated in the competition. The different categories were, age groups 8-10 years, 10-12 years, 12-14 years and more than 14 years.

The paintings were judged by Srimanti Sen, Archana Gupta & H.P. Mukhi. The theme for the current World Water Day is “Water and Sustainable Development’.

The event aimed to sensitize the citizens, employees, students of Jamshedpur and the community at large on the ecological aspects of water, the need for its conservation & various ways to save water & avoid it’s pollution in our daily lives.

The final recognition function will be held on the 22nd March, 2015 where the top 3 winners from each of the four age groups will be recognized.

Every year 22nd of March is celebrated as the World Water Day. In 1993, the UN General Assembly designated 22nd March as the first World Water Day.

It’s a day when people are sensitized to make a difference for the members of the global population who suffer from water related issues and to prepare for how we manage water in the future
