Jamshedpur, Nov 29 : A tragic incident shook the residential locality near Sidhu Kanhu Maidan in Bagbera on Saturday afternoon, where a 13-year-old boy, Navneet Kumar, was found hanging inside his home.
Navneet was a Class 4 student of St. Xavier’s School.
According to information, Navneet returned from school around 1 pm and went straight to his room, as he did every day.
Other family members were occupied with their routine work, while his younger sister was playing outside the house. When she later stepped indoors and gently pushed open the door, she was terrified by the sight—Navneet was hanging from the ceiling fan with a rope.
Shocked, she immediately rushed out and informed their father. On receiving the information, the father ran home, brought Navneet down from the noose, and rushed him to Tata Main Hospital.
However, doctors declared the boy dead on arrival. The hospital authorities promptly informed the Bagbera police station.
A police team reached the spot, completed the required formalities, and sent the body for postmortem.
The police are investigating the case with utmost seriousness.
During initial questioning, the family told the police that Navneet was an average student and had shown no signs of stress or distress in recent days.
The police are examining all possible angles related to the child’s routine, school environment, friendships and recent activities to determine the reason behind the suspected suicide.
The sudden loss has left the family devastated and the neighbourhood in deep sorrow.
