PM Modi Hails “Champions” India

New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team on Sunday for their monumental ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory, praising the squad’s “unwavering grit” and “exceptional teamwork.”

The Prime Minister’s tribute followed India’s 96-run demolition of New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad—a win that saw India become the first host nation to lift the T20 World Cup trophy.

A Message of National Pride

Taking to social media immediately after the final wicket fell, PM Modi lauded the players for their skill and determination throughout the tournament.

“Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup! This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination, and teamwork. They have shown outstanding grit through the tournament,” the Prime Minister stated.

He further noted that the victory “filled every Indian heart with pride and joy,” punctuating his message with a spirited “Well done, Team India!”

The Path to Glory

The Prime Minister’s praise comes on the heels of a dominant performance where India’s batting trio effectively batted New Zealand out of the game:

  • Sanju Samson spearheaded the assault with a blistering 89 off 46 balls, marking his third consecutive half-century.

  • Abhishek Sharma (52) and Ishan Kishan (54) provided the explosive support needed to post a massive 255/5.

  • Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel then dismantled the New Zealand chase, bowling the visitors out for 159.

Nationwide Celebrations

The historic win has sparked a wave of euphoria across the country. From Delhi to Kanyakumari, fans have taken to the streets to celebrate India’s status as the defending T20 World Champions and the first team to win three world titles in this format.

The Prime Minister’s words mirror the sentiment of millions, as India continues its unprecedented era of dominance in the shortest format of the game.
