13-year-old boy including three dead in two separate road mishaps

Jamshedpur, March 9: Three persons, including a teenager, were killed in two separate road mishaps in and around the steel city. In one of the mishaps, a 13-year-old boy, Sagar Sandil, was hit by a car at the Bara Flat Colony in Agrico under the Sidhgora police station area.

In another incident, two youths, identified as Kamu Tuddu (26) and Kamu Mardi (21), were killed on the spot at Kumarda village on Tata-Rajnagar Road under the Rajnagar police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Both were travelling by a scooter when a passenger bus hit them on the Tata-Rajnagar Road.

Sagar, a resident of Bara Flat, was riding his bicycle when the accident occurred. A 35-year-old youth identified as Abhijit Kumar Ghosh hit the boy and subsequently his can ran over him after deviating from its route. The boy died on the spot. Abhijit who is also a resident of Bara Flat was an amateur driver trying to learn the nuances of driving alone.

As a result of the mishap, the family members and relatives of the victim staged a protest at the colony, but the agitators were pacified following timely intervention of the police.

A relative of the mishap victim said, Sagar was a Class VI student of a Sakchi-based high school. Officer-in-charge, Rajdev Singh said that they have arrested the car driver, Abhijit, who was responsible for the causing the mishap and have also seized the killer vehicle.

The other mishap which took place at Rajnagar was between a scooter and a passenger bus at Kumarda village on Tata-Rajnagar Road.

Both the mishap victims Tuddu and Mardi were returning home from Chaibasa by riding the scooter.

According to sources, both the victims were cousin brothers and residents of Sundarnagar in Jamshedpur.

Officer in-charge, Rajnagar police station, Avinash Kumar said that the bus was going to Chaibasa from Jamshedpur and the victims were returning from Chaibasa, but at the Kumarda village the scooter they were riding was hit by the bus.

He said the driver of the bus, however, managed to escape the scene having abandoned the passengers-laden bus on the spot.
