Jamshedpur, August 19: Tragedy struck as a 13-year-old boy drowned while participating in the immersion of an idol in Kharkai river along Bagbera police station area on Wednesday morning. The victim Mithun Mukhi, was rescued by local divers in the downstream and was rushed to Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal where the doctors on emergency duty declared him as brought dead.

The victim who was a resident of Kitadih in Parsudih had accompanied a group of local residents for immersing the idol of Mansa goddess.
As the current was high, the boy was swept away. According to a relative of the victim, a 20-year-old youth who was taking a bath in the river nearby swung into action having watched this all but couldn’t save him.
�The police pressed a couple of local divers who traced the boy from the river water finally.� The family members rushed the boy to the Sadar hospital where he was ultimately declared as brought dead.
