13 NIT Jamshedpur students test COVID positive  

Jamshedpur, July 4: COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Jharkhand. Infection is spreading in Jamshedpur too as active cases have gone above 70.

In Seraikela-Kharsawan the district adjacent to Jamshedpur, corona infected patients saw a big jump on Monday as 14 cases were reported including 13 students of NIT Jamshedpur in Adityapur. Total of 100 students underwent COVID-19 test.

All the students are from B.Tech first year batch. The premierengineering institute has issued orders for postponement of class of this batch for three days.

The hostel warden has also instructed the students to wear masks and follow other Covid guidelines specially in the mess.

According to reports, several students of the institute are returning home.

NIT has started preparations to deal with any kind of emergency. All the arrangements including the ambulance of the institute have been put in order. On the other hand, as a precautionary measure, students of Hostel One are also being shifted to other hostels. Corona test of students will also be done on Tuesday. After that, according to the situation, other decisions will also be taken if needed. This also includes the decision to seal the institute if the cases of corona rise.
