Loyola, Carmel hog limelight at ASISC Regional Swimming Championship

Jamshedpur, Aug. 11: Carmel Junior College hogged the limelight at the ASISC Regional Swimming Championship 2017 organised by DBMS English School at JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday. Ashish Kumar, Head – Sports, Tata Steel was the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony
Carmel Junior College students won the team championship in the Junior Boys and Junior Girls category. DBMS English School and RVS Academy were the joint runners-up in the Junior Boys category while Sacred Heart Convent School ended as the runner-up in the junior girls’ category.

In the individual championship Deepanshu Choudhary of Carmel Junior College scored 15 points to win the junior boys event.
Lavya Gautam of Sacred Heart Convent School won in the Junior Girls category by scoring 15 points

Senior Boys individual championship was dominated by the Loyola School students as it won in the 50 m freestyle, 100 m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m and 100m breaststroke, 50 m and 100m butterfly.

Sagnik Kar Roy of the Loyola School scored 10 points and won the senior boys individual championship

Lavanya Goutam of Loyola School dominated the senior girls’ category.

After the championship the winners were awarded prizes. Arjuna Awardee Bagicha Singh, Sr. Manager, Sports, Tata Steel was the Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony. He praised the efforts of the organising school – D. B. M. S. English School.

Welcome speech was given by Rajani Shekhar, Principal, D. B. M. S. English School and Vote of thanks was extended by P. K. Sahu, Vice-Principal, D. B. M. S. English School. Rjani Shekhar praised the School Managing Committee for their whole hearted co-operation in organising this Championship as well as the efforts of P. Ramesh Kumar, Games Co-ordinator and each and every members of the Games Department for organising the ASISC- Regional Swimming Championship in a grand manner which was really treat to watch. The Dance put-up by the students was spectacular. The programme was witnessed by the Principals of various schools of Jamshedpur, Members of the School Managing Committee of all units of DBMS, Parents , Teachers and Students.

Prizes were given by B. Neelakantan, Chairperson, D. B. M. S. Board of Trustees, B. Chandrashekhar, Jt. Chairperson, D. B. M. S. Board of Trustees, Lalitha Chandrashekhar, Jt. Chairperson, D. B. M. S. Board of Trustees, Hema Raghavan, Secretary, D. B. M. S. English School and others.
