Carry welfare schemes on head, rather than mahua: Hemant
Ranchi, October 21: The Jharkhand government will open 100 Kisan Pathsalas (schools for farmers) across the state to provide training and other aid to farmers to help them maximise profit and face vagaries of monsoon, chief minister Hemant Soren said on Friday after inaugurating the first such facility in Karra block of Khunti district.
“Around 80 per cent of the state’s population is dependent on agriculture. These centres are designed with an objective to help farmers diversify agriculture and maximise profits. The government is opening 100 such facilities across the state,” Soren told a gathering at Karra.
Officials said these schools would provide consultancy to farmers about alternate cropping and usage of modern technology, among other things.
“These centres would also function as Kisan Vikas Kendras, providing training, equipment and extra seed support,” officials said.
On Friday, CM Soren also laid foundation stone of development projects worth ₹124 crore in Khunti district, besides inaugurating projects worth ₹172 crore as part of mega outreach programme, Sarkar Aapke Dwar.
The 11-day first leg of the government’s outreach campaign would end on October 22. The second leg of the scheduled panchayat-level campaign will begin on November 1 and end on November 14.
Addressing the function, Soren requested the village women against selling liquor and mahua.
“Carry the government’s plan, not liquor, mahua on the forehead. Take advantage of the government welfare schemes and also inform others in village to reap benefit of the schemes. The plans have been made as per need of the people for increasing livelihood opportunities,” said Soren.
The Chief Minister said that Khunti is Veer Bhoomi (land of brave persons) where people have fought for their rights.
“We respect the sentiments of the people and soon after coming to power our government withdrew the cases registered against Pathalgadi activists in the previous government. The state government has also taken a decision regarding state employees. Their years old demand was fulfilled. Decisions were also taken for the policemen. The government is also trying to find a respectable way for the assistant policemen soon,” said Soren.
The Chief Minister said that all the girls have to be connected with the Savitri Bai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana and announced of giving laptops and smartphones to five girls of Kasturban Gandhi Awasiya Vidyalaya who have qualified in IIT-JEE mains and NEET (medical).
Out of these girls Daymani Sanga and Alisha Hassa have qualified for JEE Mains and Deepa Purti, Pooja Kumari and Vatika Kumari have qualified for NEET.
