Jamshedpur, March 13: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy on Friday evening at Lal Bhatta Main Road under the Sidhgora police station area, triggering widespread outrage among local residents.
The deceased has been identified as Raj Munduiya (10). According to reports, Raj had gone towards a near-by river with his father.
After drinking water there, he was returning home alone when a speeding Hyva truck allegedly ran over him on the main road.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the child died on the spot.
Soon after the accident, local residents rushed to the spot and managed to catch the truck driver, who was reportedly trying to flee.
An angry mob allegedly assaulted the driver before handing him over to the police. Locals claimed that the driver was under the influence of alcohol while driving.
Meanwhile, the child’s father reached the accident site after receiving information about the incident, only to find that his son had already succumbed to his injuries.
Enraged over the incident, residents placed the child’s body on the road and staged a protest by blocking the Lal Bhatta Main Road, causing disruption to traffic.
Police personnel soon reached the spot, pacified the protesters and restored normalcy in the area.
