57 new cases lift Jamshedpur corona mark to 823

Ranchi/Jamshedpur, July 18: Jharkhand on Saturday reported two coronavirus death taking the toll to 49. The deceased has been identified as driver of the son of Dhanbad MP PN Singh. The deceased was admitted to COVID-19 Hospital on Friday after testing positive for the virus.  The second death has been reported at TMH in Jamshedpur where Chaibasa resident succumbed to the virus.

On the other hand, district administration has announced lockdown in Garhwa Nagar Parishad area from 19 to 31 July. Garhwa is the second district in Jharkhand after Hazaribagh to announce lockdown.

Jharkhand on Saturday recorded 280 new coronavirus cases taking tally to 5390.

The average death rate in the month of July is two deaths per day. The death toll in Jharkhand has climbed to 49.  

The average corona positive tally in the state in the month of July is 125.� On Saturday, 280 positives were reported in Jharkhand till 9pm. Earlier, 320 cases were reported on July 15 while 268 cases were reported in a single day on July 13.

Coronavirus cases in Jharkhand crossed 5000 mark on Friday itself.

In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has reached 823.

With 57 new cases reported on Saturday, July 18, the total cases in East Singhbhum district stands at 823. July 7 saw maximum cases being reported in single day in Jamshedpur with 58 positives. Earlier 43 cases came up on May 30 while July 2 recorded 45 cases in a single day.

The district administration spokesperson informed that 57 corona positives have been identified in the East Singhbhum district on Saturday.

All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 wards.

The situation is alarming given the rising death toll in Kolhan region. But all the deceased have been suffering from critical disease.       

Other Jharkhand positive cases were reported from Ranchi 61, Giridih 23, Deoghar 18, Chatra 17, Latehar 16, Dhanbad 14, Koderma 11, East SInghbhum 57, 9 each from Bokaro and Gumla, 3 each from Dumka, Hazaribagh, Pakur and West Singhbhum, 2 each from Godda, Jamtara, Lohardaga, Palamu and Simdega, 1 each from Khunti and Seraikela-Kharsawan taking the state corona tally to 5390.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the state is 2581 and fatalities at 49 while 2577 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital. 2245 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.

The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 823 cases out of a total of 5390. The state has imposed lockdown till July 31. Religious places, malls, saloon, spas, schools, colleges will remain closed till July 31.
