Jamshedpur, Sep 3: Ten prisoners from Jamshedpur were released on Tuesday following the approval of the Jharkhand State Sentence Review Board. Eight prisoners walked out of Ghaghidih Central Jail, while two were released from Sakchi Sub Jail. A total of 51 prisoners were being freed under this order in Jharkhand.
The inmates were released based on their good conduct and health conditions. Jail authorities bid them farewell with garlands and words of encouragement, urging them to lead better lives as responsible citizens. Jail Superintendent Ajay Kumar Prajapati and Jailer Bablu Gope personally oversaw the release.
All those released were convicts serving life sentences, most in connection with murder cases. Among them was 60-year-old Sangram Sinku of Mongra village in West Singhbhum, convicted in a murder case. Similarly, 61-year-old Konka Bera of Baharagora and 59-year-old Togo Samadd of Dumaria were also convicted of murder.
Others released include 47-year-old Sanatan Sundi of Tonto, 52-year-old Sunil Hansda of Chakulia, and 44-year-old Saheb Jamuda of Chakradharpur, all serving life sentences for murder. From Sakchi Jail, 38-year-old Mithun Kumar of Pathal village, convicted of murder in Ghatsila, was freed.
The list also included 46-year-old Jumbal Nayak of Jhinkpani, convicted in a witch-hunting related murder case, and 52-year-old Sunil Bari of West Singhbhum, serving life imprisonment for murder and destruction of evidence. Another released convict was Binod Sinku of Mongra, serving a life term in a murder case.
After years behind bars, the released prisoners stepped out to breathe fresh air and begin life anew. Authorities expressed hope that they would reform and reintegrate into society with dignity.
