₹23-Crore Eco-Tourism Revamp: 11 Temples Being Built at Potka’s Mukteshwar Dham

Jamshedpur: Mukteshwar Dham Harina, a renowned religious site located in the Potka block of Jharkhand, is undergoing a rapid transformation. Construction teams are putting the finishing touches on 11 new temples within the complex, while simultaneously renovating and reshaping the old Kali and Shiva temples.

Potka MLA Sanjiv Sardar inspected the entire complex and fairground alongside Forest Range Officer Vimad Kumar, sub-beat officers, contractors, and temple committee members. During the inspection, the MLA directed officials to complete all remaining work before the annual fair commences. Sardar said that his consistent efforts and the Chief Minister’s progressive vision successfully secured Mukteshwar Dham a spot on the state government’s official tourism list.

The state is spending approximately ₹23 crore on this beautification and infrastructure upgradation drive. Every year, starting June 14, around one lakh devotees from Jharkhand and three neighboring states congregate here for the historic five-day Mukteshwar Dham fair.

The expansive project includes constructing new temples dedicated to Ram, Parvati, Kartik, Mahalakshmi, Saraswati, Shani, Jagannath, Vishwakarma, and Ganesh. Simultaneously, workers are upgrading the existing Kali and Shiva temples. To give the temples a distinct traditional look, the department imported specialized pink and red stones from Rajasthan. Master artisans from Rajasthan have arrived to execute the intricate stone carvings.

To ensure a smooth experience for the thousands of devotees traveling from afar for the annual five-day fair, MLA Sanjiv Sardar held a meeting with the temple committee to streamline all civic arrangements.

The government is developing Mukteshwar Dham not just as a religious hub, but also as a major eco-tourism centre. The forest department is setting up a sprawling biodiversity park across 28 hectares, which will feature 22 guest cottages and treehouses. The park will also include swings, pathways, designated picnic spots, and musical fountains to attract tourists.
