Seraikela, June 13: Elections for the posts of Zila Parishad President and Vice President were organized in the auditorium of the District Collectorate in two shifts. The process was conducted in the presence of Deputy Commissioner-cum-Returning Officer, Arava Rajkamal. During the first shift, election was conducted for Zila Parishad President in which there were two candidates for the post, Asit Singh Patar and Sonaram Bodra. Among the 17 members who polled their votes, Sonaram Bodra was declared winner having garnered 13 votes while his competitor, Asit Singh Patar received four votes.
During the second shift, polling was conducted for the post of Zila Parishad Vice President, three candidates were in the fray and they included Pinky Layak, Madhushree Mahto and Sneha Rani Mahto and after the conclusion of counting, Madhushree Mahto was elected as the Vice President of the Zila Parishad.

The Deputy Commissioner presented certificates to the elected members and both winners, Sonaram Bodra (Zila Parishad President) and Madhushree Mahto (Zila Parishad Vice President) were sworn in. The winners of the two Zila Parishad high posts were extend good wishes on behalf of the State Election Commission and the District Administration.
Madhushree Mahato who won the Vice President’s post of the Zila Parishad received 7 votes while Sneha Rani Mahto got 6 votes and Pinky Layak received 4.
Deputy Commissioner Arava Rajkamal thanked all the members for participating in the voting process. The DC expressed his thanks to the participants including the polling staff who did the counting, for cooperating with the district administration in conducting free and fair elections. He also thanked the media representatives for being a part of the program and disseminating all the information to the the people in general. Deputy Development Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gagrai, ITDA Director-cum-Election Officer, Zila Parishad Sandeep Kumar Doraiburu, District Panchayati Raj Officer Dhanvir Lakra and others were present along with the Deputy Commissioner throughout the electoral process.
