YUVA workshop on combating child marriage in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 23: Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA in association with Girls First Fund, organized a one-day block-level workshop aimed at preventing child marriage and understanding its ramifications. Block Education Officer (BEO) Vinay Kumar Dubey and YUVA Secretary Barnali Chakraborty participated in the workshop along with teachers from 31 schools. The resource person at the workshop was Ajay Kumar from Pratigya Sanstha in Ranchi.

Led by Project Coordinator Jyoti Hembram, the program delved into the definition of child marriage, its root causes, and associated consequences. Gender importance was emphasized, along with identifying key issues contributing to the problem. The workshop also addressed legal and social dimensions of child marriage in detail.

Discussions further explored the issue of human trafficking under the guise of child marriage, recognizing it as a significant factor exacerbating the problem. Additionally, the primary and social consequences of child marriage were discussed during the workshop.
