Jamshedpur, Feb 19 : A three-day sports camp was organized by the social organization, unity for Youth Unity for Voluntary Action (YUVA) at Champi Stadium in Potka with more than 40 girls from rural areas as participants. The three day programmes has been organized by YUVA under the project, ‘Its My Body.’ The girls were trained in football by trainers Shakti and Anjali from Soccer Foundation Delhi. The girls were taught about leadership and team spirit through various activities. The camp was conducted jointly by another social organization, KRIYA. The emphasis was on personality development among rural girls. Saturday was the concluding day of the programme which saw matches between four teams comprising girls who attended the camp.
Head of the Panchayat Samiti of Poradih, Dukhni Mai Sardar said that besides sports, adolescent girls needed to pay attention to studies and play games to highlight Potka block’s achievement through such games that they were trained in like football. “Make a name for yourselves. Sports will keep you healthy. Attain fame at state level competitions,” she said.
Football coach Shakti said that in every player, the district and the country’s expectations and hopes rested.
