Jamshedpur, Dec. 17: The members of Yugantar Bharti collected water samples from various water sources in the city and estimated the pollution level at the rivers and ponds by industrial and domestic waste at the ongoing water sources cleanliness drive from 13 to 20 December.
The matter which came forward that several sewers are directly connected to the rivers without being treated which makes river banks filled with domestic filth.
The members of the Yugantar Bharti submitted a memorandum to DC Dr. Amitabh Kaushal and demanded cleanliness of the rivers and treatment of the sewers before they are let off at the rivers.
They also asked for action against the industries polluting the rivers. During the survey and water sample collection members found that the rivers have been converted into filthy sewers where no water species are left and the water is of no use for humans and animals.
According to Jharkhand High court sewer water cannot be directly let off to rivers without being treated.
