Jamshedpur: The Young Indians Parliament (YIP) – City Level Round 2025, hosted by Young Indians Jamshedpur Chapter, concluded on a high note at Kerala Public School, Burma Mines. More than 100 students from various schools across Jamshedpur came together to engage in spirited debates, policy discussions, and mock parliamentary proceedings. The event aimed to empower youth with a deeper understanding of India’s democratic and legislative processes.
The closing ceremony’s Chief Guest, Raghunath Pandey, President of the TSUISL Workers Union, commended the initiative and addressed the students, expressing hope and confidence in the youth as the future leaders of the nation. “Such platforms foster awareness, responsibility and leadership in young minds,” he said, applauding the effort of the organizers.
Other notable guests present included Udit Agarwal, Former Chair, Young Indians Jamshedpur, Rachna Nair, Academic Director, Kerala Public School, Burma Mines, Kaushik Modi, Chair, Young Indians Jamshedpur along with members of the Young Indians team who played key roles in conceptualizing and executing the event.
The highlight of Day 2 was a two-hour mock parliamentary session where student parliamentarians debated on pressing state issues, including Women empowerment in Jharkhand, tourism development in the state and challenges in the healthcare sector and possible policy solutions.
Four student-drafted bills were introduced during the session, with two gaining majority approval after detailed deliberation and voting showcasing the participants’ research abilities, critical thinking, and democratic awareness.
Ten awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions and they included DBMS Kadma High School (4 awards), Kerala Public School, Kadma (2 awards), Loyola School (2 awards) and Jusco School, Kadma (2 awards).
Award categories included Best Speaker, Best Parliamentarian, Best Bill, and Best Team Coordination.
The Young Indians Parliament, a flagship initiative under the Thalir vertical, aimed to familiarize students with the workings of the Indian Parliament and encourage them to become active, informed, and responsible citizens.
