Jamshedpur : In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old youth was murdered near Station-Kitadih Road close to Tatanagar railway station under Bagbera police station area in the wee hours of Monday.
The murder victim was identified as Rajendra Tiwary, a resident of Gwala Bustee at Kitadih. The police have sent the body to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College mortuary for an autopsy and have registered a case of murder on the basis of a statement given by the victim’s elder brother Rajesh Tiwary.
Officer-in-charge, Bagbera police station, Budhram Oraon said that a patrolling party of Bagbera police station was returning to the police station, the cops in the patrolling party saw a crowd and a youth lying murder.
“The city had been free from crimes, but now the `knife culture’ has taken roots. The police should act with utmost vigil and nab the accused. The increase in crimes is a matter of concern. Thefts were a common but recent rise of cases of murders is serious,” said a district official.
Meanwhile East Singhbhum senior superintendent of police (SSP) Amol V. Homkar recently held a crime meeting at his office and asked his team to strengthen their intelligence network to rein in the city’s soaring crime graph.
The normal evening hours of the Steel City have now literally turned into the vulnerable hours as the rising crime graph has indicated that majority of the crime in the industrial town has taken place in the evening. Out of the dozen odd criminal incidents that have shattered the normal life of the peace loving denizens of the city majority have been executed in the dark.
Although, the police have been maintaining mobility and increased its on road presence during the evening hours but criminals have selected the 6 to 12 midnight time as the ideal hours to execute their criminal designs.
