Jamshedpur, Jan 11: A 22-year-old youth committed suicide by hanging from a tree in Potash forest of Raghunathdih village under Junbani panchayat of Dhalbhumgarh thana in East Singhbhum on Monday.
According to villagers, the youth identified as Arjun Murmu was a student of Tata College in Chaibasa and had also completed apprenticeship in mechanical stream and had returned from Chaibasa yesterday. Few villagers had seen him in the bus terminus and when they inquired about the youth to his father, Subodh Murmu, a retired Army personnel, they came to know that he had not reached his house.
It was at that time that the villagers were informed about the body of the youth hanging from a tree in the Potash forest. The police reached the spot and took possession of the body and sent it for post mortem to Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital.
According to the father, his son used to stay depressed as all his friends had landed jobs but he was still unemployed.
Police are probing into the incident after having lodged a case of unnatural death.
