Jamshedpur: A 28 year old youth, identified as Pankaj Yadav, died after being crushed between a cement-laden mini truck and a tree at Sidhu Kanhu Chowk under Parsudih PS area on Thursday. He was a resident of Jemco.
Sources said the mishap occurred when Pankaj was trying to find a big stone to block rolling of the mini truck he had just parked at Sidhu Kanhu Chowk. While Pankaj tried to fix a stone under the truck�s wheels, the vehicle started rolling.
Pankaj tried to stop the vehicle with all his might, but was dragged along the inclined road. The truck ended up hitting a tree. Pankaj was unfortunately crushed between the truck and the tree. He soon started bleeding from the mouth. Local residents somehow pulled Pankaj out of the vehicle. The victim was still breathing. He was taken to MGM Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Local residents blocked the Sidhu Kanhu road after the youth�s death. They said a house was being built nearby notwithstanding the fact that a high-voltage cable passed above it. During construction work, a mishap may occur, they warned.
