Chaibasa, Aug. 3: The police of Thursday arrested youth congress activists when they tried to burn the effigy of Chief Minister Raghubar Das and Prime Minister Narendra Modi near Shaheed Park, Chaibasa in protest against the sudden hike in price of gas cylinder.
The youth congress wing of Chaibasa strongly opposed the 25 percent increase in the registry of gas cylinder in Jharkhand and increasing Rs 4 in gas cylinder price.
The activists gathered to burn the effigy but the police foiled the bid and arrested them. The youth congress alleged that the government had promised the people that price of commodities will be in control during the 2014 Lok Sabha election but since the HJP government took over, the price is increasing each day and within a span of six month government has increased the price by Rs 270 in gas cylinder.
Congress workers present were were Trishanu Roy, Youth congress district president Shankar Sing Sawayain, Shiv Shankar Boipai , Lakhan Balmuchu, PurnChandra Kayam, Avinash Koda, Sandeep Sunny Deogam, Jitendra Gope and others.
