The arrested youth, identified as Gupteswar Giri alias Ledha was wanted in connection with a firing incident that took place at Kitadih under Parsudih police station area on October 22 evening.

The accused is a resident of Sanjay Nagar in Parsudih. He has been accused to fire at one Manna Mahto at Kitadih on October 22 evening. But Mahto who has also a criminal background escaped unhurt.

“It is a major achievement. We had set up a special team for arresting the accused and eventually four attackers, namely Sonu Kumar Dutta, Mohammed Sahrukh, Banti Kumar Chowdhury and Dilip Chowdhury. But Gupteswar along with Basant, Ajit, Poppo, Afzal and three others were absconding,” said Kumar.

He said while the police were looking for these absconding accused, sub-inspector Manoj Kumar Singh of Parsudih spotted Gupteswar near his house at Sanjay Nagar.
“The police team asked the accused to stop, he started running and entered into a public toilet.

The sub-inspector called in more cops and surrounded him in the toilet and ultimately nabbed him,” said the city SP. He said on searching the police officials recovered a loaded country-made pistol from the waist of the arrested person.

Kumar informed that on being grilled Gupteswar admitted that he had fired targetting Manna to kill him in sequel to a gang war in October.
