Jamshedpur: Govindpur police here on Thursday arrested a youth, identified as Vishal Kumar Verma, in connection with a murder and loot attempt near Theme Park in Govindpur pond yesterday.
Cops said they arrested the accused on the complaint of Neelam Singh, resident of Quarter Number 192, Sunderhatu.
The woman was allegedly assaulted with fist blows and stone by the accused when she was on her way to her parental home through the road passing besides the local hill.
As the victim happened to pass between the pond and the theme park, the accused reportedly hit her with a fist and pulled her by her hairs in a bid to snatch her gold ear-rings and a pearl necklace.
The victim said the accused tried to kill her in a bid to loot the valuables. She said she had been seeing the accused in the locality for the last few days.
Police said the victim suffered from profuse bleeding caused by the severe head injury. They said an FIR had been registered against the accused in this connection.
