Youth accused of harassing Jamshedpur girl on social media in police net

Jamshedpur, Oct 5: City police have begun interrogation of Ayush Vedant, accused of harassing a girl from Sidhgora, Ankita Shukla, on social media for the last many days. They are searching for two more accused in the case, Kunwar Amol and Srikant Rathore, who are still at large. A police team brought the accused to the city from Darbhanga in the wee hours of Saturday.

Addressing a press meet, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Jamshedpur Anoop Birtharay said the accused was arrested from Samastipur on his way to Darbhanga from Gurgaon after police began a search for him in New Delhi. The accused is a native of Lahariya Serai in Darbhanga.

According to the SSP, an FIR had been registered against the three accused with the Cyber Police Station. The accused persons had alleged uploaded morphed photos of Ankita Shukla on Facebook and other social media sites and also passed indecent and threatening comments against her. Ankita had tweeted about her problem and complained against the accused persons to Union Minister Smriti Irani. Soon two teams were set up to arrest the accused persons. One team was sent to New Delhi while the other was sent to Bihar. The arrested youth worked as operation manager at Shopping Junction in the national capital.
