Ranchi: Hazaribagh police has started a search for the former state agriculture minister Yogendra Sao after his arrest warrant was issued by a lower court in connection with the charges of his alleged links with Jharkhand Tiger Group.

Sources said Sao went traceless after the arrest warrant was issued against him. They said Sao had reportedly reached Jharkhand Bhavan and contacted senior party leaders in New Delhi to save himself from the situation.

Soon after the news of his presence in New Delhi transpired, he departed hurriedly from Jharkhand Bhavan, sources said.

Meanwhile, the wife, son and daughter of Sao have sought a high level probe into the allegations against Sao in a meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

Speaking to scribes, Saos wife said the district administration of Hazaribagh was trying to implicate the former minister. She said she was ready to step into politics to save his husbands honour.

Sao had recently resigned from his post after being accused of having links with Jharkhand Tiger Group and funding it financially as well as with arms and ammunition.

Rajkumar Gupta, the alleged kingpin of the Group, had told police during police interrogation that Sao had founded the outfit.
