Ranchi: Former Union minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha and 61 other party activists were released from Hazaribagh Central Jail on Thursday. Arrested for protesting on the issue of power crisis in the state, Sinha and other BJP leaders were released after spending 16 days in jail. The BJP leaders were granted bail yesterday.
Sinha, thronged by a large number of party members and supporters, was accorded a warm welcome on coming out of the jail. He led a procession around the district and thanked the people for extending support to the campaign launched by the BJP on the power crisis.
The BJP leader reached Bes village where he inaugurated 11 transformers simultaneously. He had started the agitation after seeing the poor power scenario in the village. He said he will intensify the agitation for power in the state. Tomorrow he will be attending an agitation in Jamtara as a part of the ongoing campaign.
