XLRI�s Global MBA students celebrate Chinese New Year

Jamshedpur : The Global MBA batch of XLRI � Xavier School of Management welcomed the Chinese New Year – Year of the Goat.

At a fun-filled event, XLRI for the first time celebrated the Spring Festival in the campus in presence of all XL-members including 300 students, faculty and their families.

The Global MBA students put together an event of music and dance, traditional Chinese games directed by a Global MBA team member and Shanghai native, Catherine Chen. Led by choreographer Ivy He with the help of XLRI student Neelesh Mathur, the students performed to popular Chinese dances like beautiful rendition of the Beijing Opera by Justine Jin and Tracy Tan, famous Little Apple (xiao ping goa�er) song, a belly dance, Tai Qi.

On the occasion, the students also prepared scrumptious traditional Chinese snacks like Dumplings known as �Jaozi� with the help of Chef Sandip Chatterjee and played games of �mahjong�.

The Chinese, Indian and American students prepared for this festival for a month and decorated the doors and windows with red color paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “good fortune” or “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity�.

Commending the initiative, Dr. J. Singh, Chairperson – International Relations at XLRI remarked, �It is truly a reflection of the powerful path on which the unique Global MBA program travels.

The event was truly an excellent event for networking and connecting with Chinese business exchange students� part of the Global MBA with those from the rest of campus. This first Chinese New Year Celebration at XLRI by the Global Cohort will hopefully be a tradition for years to come.�

Fr. Alwin Rodriguez also congratulating the students for the initiative encouraged them to continue the tradition next year.
