Jamshedpur: Students from XLRI Jamshedpur organised a free health camp at Beldih basti in Sonari. The camp was supported by RMWS trust and Dr. P. Patel from the trust attended to 117 patients in the slum.
Free medicines were also distributed to all the patients. However, the major highlight of the day was the gripping performance of these bunch of XLRI pupils at nukaadnatak, through which they spread awareness about sanitation, health care, medical care during pregnancy, evils like �Dayan Pratha� and few government schemes for health care. They also donated medical equipment to a small part-time clinic in the vicinity to enable urine and hemoglobin tests.
The social initiative undertaken by students involved extensive research over a span of 2 months to understand underlying problems in the area. One of the problems identified was a blocked drain which was a cause of health concerns. Students contacted authorities and have been following up the cleaning of drain as well.
Students, Aditya Bhanot, Apoorva Jain, Atisha Sharma, Ayush Raj, ChakshuKaplas, Garima Sinha, Shreya Chopra, Shreya Shukla, Krishna Dhanuka, Gopi Krishna credited XLRI for embedding the idea of �The greater good� which motivated them to take the social initiative.
They said that it is important for everyone amongst us to spend some time for social causes and one get�s a lot of learning in such projects which a classroom cannot give. They believe that they would continue working for such social cause and inspire many others alike for the same.
