Sulphas tablets found in room; police investigate cause
Jamshedpur, Feb 28: A youth died during treatment at Tata Motors Hospital after allegedly consuming poison late on the night of February 25. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Aryan Raj, son of Chandrashekhar Kumar Singh, a resident of Cross Road No. 29 (KL-Four 2/5) under the Telco police station area.
According to family members, Aryan’s health suddenly deteriorated after he reportedly consumed a poisonous substance at home. He was immediately rushed to Tata Motors Hospital, where doctors tried to save him, but he succumbed during treatment.
At the time of the incident, only Aryan and his father were present at home, while his mother was in Bengaluru visiting her daughter. Telco police station in-charge Prabhat Kumar Singh said sulphas tablets were recovered from the student’s room during a preliminary search. However, no suicide note was found.
Police have seized Aryan’s mobile phone for examination to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step. Investigators said the exact cause of death will be determined after a detailed inquiry.
Aryan was a bright student and had completed his schooling from Chinmaya Vidyalaya. Though initial speculation points towards possible academic stress, officials said no conclusion has been drawn so far.
Aryan’s father, a former Tata Motors employee, is reportedly in deep shock. Police are continuing their investigation.
