XLRI Jamshedpur joins hands with Tata Steel Foundation for Post Graduate Certification Course on CSR

Jamshedpur, Oct 12: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI) and Tata Steel Foundation (TSF or the Foundation) to establish and develop their one-of-its-kind co-created online post-graduate certificate programme on the social-impact sector. This comes as a significant announcement after XLRI’s inaugural Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The MoU was signed by Fr. S George, Director, XLRI, and Sourav Roy, Chief Executive Officer, Tata Steel Foundation at XLRI campus in Jamshedpur, in the presence of Chanakya Chaudhary, Director, Tata Steel Foundation. As part of this, both entities will jointly develop and deliver a one-year, globally competitive, academically rigorous, and institutionally recognized online post-graduate certificate program (“Program”). It will focus on developing the most essential and sought-after skill sets, knowledge-base and attitudes required for functioning successfully in the CSR (corporate social responsibility) and social-impact management space in India and the world, over a course of 10 years.

Both XLRI and TSF shall jointly develop and execute relevant content and processes to enable the successful delivery of the programme. It will seek to preserve and disseminate high-quality research, an organic and holistic body of knowledge relevant for the CSR and social-impact space (in both Indian and global contexts), including but not limited to- repository of skill sets, case-studies, research papers, white-papers, articles, books, and other textual/audio-visual materials like films/videos etc.

Fr. S George, Director – XLRI Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur, expressed his immense joy while saying, “XLRI always believes in taking steps “for the greater good”. Through this program, we will create synergies between Tata Steel Foundation’s expertise in leveraging CSR for social good, and XLRI’s academic prowess to create empathetic social impact leaders of tomorrow for India and the world.”

Sourav Roy, CEO-TSF, expressed his delight saying, “The PGCCSR course is a unique effort in that it accentuates our intention to create a platform for imbibing wisdom from communities; those arising out of life experiences and not limited to classrooms. We look forward to this long-term collaboration as a milestone of enriching knowledge and wisdom. We also value this collaboration with XLRI and thereby co-create a clear path of societally responsible leadership to emerge organically.”

Through the course of the programme, which is approved by AICTE, and over a period of time, the team will ensure that this program is enriched consistently through relevant inputs on programmatic and procedural levels, on mutually agreed upon terms.
